Worcester Local First hold its Premier Business Directory Kick-off Party on Wednesday, February 20 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at The Beechwood Hotel & Conference Center, 363 Belmont St., Worcester. Worcester Local First encourages consumers to "think local first" when buying goods and services.
There is no charge for admission to the Kick-off Party and attendees will get to learn about Worcester Local First's plans for its first Business Directory. The publication will give Worcester residents and businesses an excellent, handy way to find locally owned, independent businesses in the Worcester community. The goal of Worcester Local First, which now has more than 60 members, is to have at least 250 members in its first directory. By June 1, Worcester Local First will distribute 30,000 complimentary copies through member businesses, non-profits and local city agencies.
People who attend the Kick-off Party will get to do the following:
- Meet fellow locally, owned, independent business owners.
- Meet and hear Worcester Local First co-chairs Bill Cavanagh of C.C. Lowell and Alan Lavine of Percy's TV & Appliance, who will talk about the importance of getting consumers to think "local" first when buying goods and services.
- Meet and hear City Manager Mike O'Brien, who will talk about the importance of locally owned, independent businesses to Worcester's economy.
- Have fun!
Worcester Local First's Premier Business Directory will also serve as an excellent, handy advertising vehicle for locally owned, independent businesses. An advertising rate card will be distributed during the Kick-off Party.
Worcester Local First is an affiliate of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston, a 501(c)3 organization. SBN is part of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, which consists of more than 60 Local First campaigns in the U.S. and Canada.
