Steering Committee Ways to Get Involved Media Coverage Events & Activities Mission Statement Worcester Local First is a network of locally owned, independent businesses formed in 2007 to build a strong Worcester economy and a vibrant community. We do this by: - Organizing a Worcester Local First campaign that raises the awareness of consumers, businesses, and government agencies regarding the benefits of purchasing from locally owned, independent businesses.
- Bringing together locally owned, independent businesses for mutual benefit and networking opportunities.
- Supporting Worcester ordinances, regulations and policies that promote locally owned, independent businesses.
- Collaborating with other organizations that promote and advance locally owned, independent businesses.
Worcester Local First, along with Local First campaigns in Boston, Cambridge and Roslindale, is an affiliate of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston, a 501(c) 3 non-profit, tax-exempt organization. SBN is part of the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, which has more than 60 Local First campaigns across the U.S. and Canada. Ways to Get Involved You have many ways to get involved with Worcester Local First in order to help us succeed in economically and environmentally sustainable ways. We welcome and appreciate any way in which you can help us to encourage retail and business-to-business consumers to “think local first.” Join To join and pay as a Sponsor, Member or Friend, visit our Membership page. Donate Worcester Local First is an affiliate of the Sustainable Business Network of Greater Boston (www.sbnboston.org ), a 501(c)3 organization. Opportunities are available to help in the office, assist with an event, or get involved in a specific program. Intern We have internship opportunities available for students looking for an in-depth, educational experience with Worcester Local First. Interns must either receive academic credit for their work or provide a letter from an academic supervisor stating that their work constitutes valuable life experience. Partner We work with many organizations to accomplish shared goals. We recognize that we are but one part of the puzzle, and we value powerful partnerships.
